ok, so decided to do a whistle stop tour of gallery visits as don’t get to London often enough. I may be regretting that decision today as can not walk !
should anyone want to do this tour it is worth it, only one exhibition was disappointing , and is doable but it means getting to London for around 10am eating on the hoof and only stopping for coffee (a must!)
involves lots of walking and tube hopping to, and I was back in Guildford for around 6.30pm .
starting at Bermondsey – Galleries White cube- Christian Marclay ,
Vitrine – charlie g Thomas,Clare kenny,Wil Murray
Eames fine art gallery – Focal Point, James Sparshatt,Barry Cawston
Then on to Spitalfields/Whitechapel area to a gallery I hadn’t heard of before
Lollipop Gallery a nice big space showing Fem Gaff a collection of female street artists
From there onto Hoxton area where I went to – Standpoint gallery where Srin is showing with others
Parasol unit fca + Victoria Miro gallery to see Katy Moran and Sarah sze
Coffee and chocolate from Carpo ! I can highly recomend just before you get to the RA
Back the to central London and Piccadilly to the RA to see Rubens and his legacy this was a surprise as wasn’t expecting the vast array of exhibits including Saville, de Kooning, Lucas,Klimt and many more!
Just over the road from here is a small gallery auction house called Simon Dickinson on Jermyn St here was a small but excellent exhibition by Joan Miro
From here was going to walk to Summerset house but changed my mind which I was glad about as stumbled on Sala Brazil which is part of the Brazilian embassy and a gallery 32 /mamam where I saw an excellent contempoary exhibition of sculptures and paintings, prints from Pernambuco in Brazil .
from here i had to jump on tube as could not do much more walking ! of to Tate to see Marlene Dumas
so now to recover and do the reviews !
